Best AI tools for concrete contractors (2026)

Updated Oct 17, 2026 · Prices as of Oct 2026 · Some links may be affiliate links (disclosure)

Concrete is a weird trade to schedule. You quote a 600-square-foot driveway on Monday, the homeowner sits on it for two weeks, then wants it poured before their kid's graduation party, and the forecast says rain. Meanwhile you're trying to line up the pump, the ready-mix plant and a finisher who's also working for two other guys. The software below won't pour anything, but it cuts the time you spend chasing quotes, deposits and reschedules.

Prices were checked on vendor pricing pages in October 2026.

Quoting flatwork without the kitchen-table hour

Most residential concrete quotes are the same handful of line items: demo and haul-off, base prep, forms, reinforcement (mesh, rebar or fiber), placement and finish, saw-cut joints, sealing, and extras like a broom finish versus stamped or exposed aggregate. That's exactly what a field app's saved line items are for.

  • Build templates for your common jobs: "Driveway replacement, 4 in., rebar on 18 in. centers," "Patio, stamped, one color," "Sidewalk, broom finish."
  • Price by square foot with a minimum charge, so small pads don't lose money.
  • Add optional line items (sealer, decorative border, extra thickness at the apron) so the homeowner can bump the price up themselves. Optional line items are included on Jobber's Grow plan and Housecall Pro's plans; check which tier you're on.
  • Attach two or three photos of past work in the same finish. Stamped concrete sells on pictures.

For the wording, paste your notes into ChatGPT: "Turn this into a clear concrete quote for a homeowner: tear out 22x30 cracked driveway, haul off, 4 in. compacted base, 4 in. 4,000 psi, rebar 18 in. OC, broom finish, saw cuts, $X/sq ft. Explain what's excluded (irrigation repair, permit, sprinkler heads, sod repair) and that pour dates move with weather." You'll get a cleaner write-up than most of your competitors send, and you check the numbers.

A pour week, start to finish

  1. Quote approved online with a deposit, which locks the date in your schedule.
  2. Three days out: an automatic reminder tells the homeowner to move cars, mark sprinkler lines and keep pets in. Write it once, reuse it forever.
  3. Prep day: the crew snaps photos of compacted base, forms and steel in CompanyCam. Those photos are your defense if a slab cracks in two years and someone says you skipped the rebar.
  4. The night before: forecast turns bad. You move the job in the app and a saved text goes out: "Rain expected tomorrow, so we're moving your pour to Thursday to protect the finish. Nothing you need to do."
  5. Pour day: finish, cut, photos of the final surface, and the invoice goes out from the driveway.
  6. A week later: a review request goes out, plus a reminder of cure time and when it's safe to drive on.

Scripts that work

Most of a concrete contractor's customer communication is the same eight messages. Write them once in your field app or phone's text replacements:

  • Quote sent: "Your driveway quote is in your inbox. It includes tear-out, base, rebar and a broom finish. Happy to walk the site with you if you want to talk through finish options."
  • Quote follow-up, day 5: "Checking in on the driveway quote. We're scheduling pours about three weeks out right now, so if you'd like a date before [event], a deposit holds it."
  • Prep reminder: "We pour Thursday. Please move vehicles off the driveway by Wednesday night, flag any sprinkler heads near the edges, and keep the garage door closed during the pour."
  • Cure instructions: "Your new driveway can take foot traffic tomorrow, but please keep cars off for at least 7 days and heavy trucks off for 30. Avoid de-icing salt this first winter."
  • Crack question: "Small hairline cracks between control joints are normal shrinkage and not a structural problem. If you see a crack wider than a credit card or one side higher than the other, send us a photo."

That last one alone saves a dozen phone calls a year.

Pricing math worth doing once

Say a 24 by 30 ft driveway replacement, 720 sq ft at 4 in. thick. That's about 8.9 cubic yards before waste; most crews order around 9.5 to 10 yards to cover base irregularities and spillage. If ready-mix runs $160–$200 a yard delivered in your area (call your plant; this swings a lot), concrete alone is $1,500–$2,000, plus rebar, base stone, forms, saw cutting, disposal of the old slab and labor. Put the result in a per-square-foot line item with a minimum, and you'll quote in seconds next time. A chatbot can double-check the arithmetic if you paste your numbers, but don't let it guess your local prices.

What it costs, small versus mid-size

BusinessSetupMonthly
Owner-operator plus a helper, residential flatworkJobber Core (annual) + Quo Starter + ChatGPT freeAbout $44–$48
Same, adding photo records+ CompanyCam Core (annual)About $107–$111
Two or three crews, decorative workHousecall Pro Essentials (5 users, annual) + CompanyCam Crew (3 users, annual) + NiceJobAbout $343

Card processing fees come on top of all of this, and on a $9,000 driveway they're real money. Both Jobber and Housecall Pro let you accept bank transfers (ACH) for a lower fee. Push customers toward ACH on big jobs.

Where AI genuinely helps a concrete business

  • Change orders. "Customer wants to extend the patio 4 ft and add a step. Write a short change order with this added price and what it does to the schedule."
  • Explaining cracks. Every concrete contractor gets the "why is it cracking?" call. Have ChatGPT help write a calm one-page explainer on control joints and shrinkage cracks that you can text to customers.
  • Commercial bids. If you bid sidewalks or pads for GCs, an AI assistant can summarize a long spec section into the parts that affect your price. Claude is good at long documents.
  • Seasonal marketing. Spring is driveway season in cold climates. A short email to past customers about sealing and crack repair is an easy upsell.

Honest downsides

Field apps are built around one-visit service calls. Multi-day pours with subs and plant orders take some workaround, usually separate visits on one job. AI can't calculate a job you haven't measured. Bad dimensions in, wrong yards out. CompanyCam only helps if the crew actually takes the photos. Make it part of the checklist, not optional. Review tools at $75+/mo are hard to justify if you do 10 jobs a month. A well-timed manual text works almost as well at that size.

FAQ

What is the best software for a small concrete company?

For one to three crews doing driveways, patios and sidewalks, Jobber or Housecall Pro covers quoting, deposits, scheduling and invoicing. Jobber Core is $29/mo billed annually and Housecall Pro Basic is $59/mo billed annually as of October 2026. Add CompanyCam if you want time-stamped photos of base prep and forms on every job.

Can AI estimate a concrete job?

AI can do the arithmetic and write the proposal, but it cannot see your subgrade. Give ChatGPT the dimensions, thickness, your price per square foot and add-ons and it will lay out a clear quote. Confirm yards, base depth and access on site before you order the truck.

How should concrete contractors handle rain delays with customers?

Tell customers at signing that pour dates move with weather, then send a reschedule text the day before if the forecast turns. Field apps let you move the job and notify the customer in one step. Keep a saved message so you are not writing it at 5 a.m.

Should I take a deposit on concrete work?

Most contractors take a deposit to cover materials and lock the date, subject to your state's rules on contractor deposits. Both Jobber and Housecall Pro let customers pay a deposit online when they approve the quote.
