Concrete leveling is sold on a photo of a sunken sidewalk with a tape measure on it. The customer has one question: how much to fix the trip hazard? Answer that in an hour and you usually win the job over the guy who calls back Thursday.

Photo quotes first

Ask for three photos: the whole slab, the joint with a tape measure showing the drop, and the area around it (downspouts, trees, slope). Give a range by text. Book a site visit only to confirm.

Run those texts on a Quo line (Starter $15/user/mo annually ($19 monthly), plus a one-time $19.50 texting registration fee) so you can see them from the truck and the office at the same time. Saved replies for "send me these three photos" save you typing it 15 times a day in spring.

Foam vs. slurry on the quote

If you offer both, show them as options in Housecall Pro (Basic $59/mo billed annually ($79 monthly); Essentials $149/mo annually for 5 users; MAX $299/mo annually) or Jobber (Core $29/mo billed annually ($49 month to month); Connect $99/mo annually; Grow $149/mo annually). Foam: smaller holes, lighter, typically usable the same day, higher material cost. Mudjacking: cheaper, bigger holes, heavier. Let the customer pick. Most homeowners will choose foam for the driveway and slurry for a back patio nobody sees.

Price by the slab or by material used, with a trip minimum. Track pounds of foam per job in your app. After a season you'll know your real numbers for a 4x4 sidewalk square versus a 12x20 driveway panel.

Example job

Illustration only. Four sidewalk squares and one driveway panel. Your foam cost is about $5 a pound and the job uses 120 pounds: $600 in material. Quote $1,650 with a $500 trip minimum. At two of those a day, material is about 36% of revenue, which leaves room for labor, fuel and the rig payment. If your material share climbs past 45%, your pricing is off.

Leads beyond homeowners

HOAs, property managers and cities have liability for trip hazards. A one-page proposal with photos, a map of each hazard and a per-slab price wins those contracts. ChatGPT (Free; Go $8/mo; Plus $20/mo) can turn your field notes into that proposal. Keep your own pricing and insurance details in it, and check every number.

Warranties and drainage

Most re-settlement comes from water. If a downspout dumps next to the slab, say so in writing and recommend a fix. Your warranty should name the slabs covered, the time period and the exclusions. Vague is expensive.

Weak spots

Cracked slabs don't get uncracked. Tell the customer before you lift. Lifting too fast can crack a slab that was fine. And spring is a short, intense season in many regions. Book your summer jobs before you're too busy to answer the phone.

FAQ

Polyurethane foam or mudjacking?

Foam uses smaller holes, weighs much less and is typically ready for use the same day. Mudjacking (slurry) costs less in material but uses larger holes and adds weight to soil that may already be settling. Many crews offer both and let the customer choose on the quote.

Can I estimate concrete leveling from photos?

You can give a range from photos with a tape measure in frame and the drop at the joint. Final price depends on voids under the slab and soil, which you only see on site.

What should a concrete leveling warranty cover?

Be specific: which slabs, for how long, and what's excluded (new cracks, settlement from drainage problems, tree roots). Vague warranties lead to arguments later.
