ChatGPT prompts for auto detailers (2026)

Detailers sell results people judge with their eyes, at prices they don't understand until you explain them. Why is paint correction $600 when a wash is $40? What does a ceramic coating really do? ChatGPT is good at the explaining, the packages and the follow-ups that turn one detail into a maintenance customer.

Start with your packages, prices and products, and say if you're mobile or work from a shop. Don't paste customer addresses or plate numbers.

Package quotes

  • Notes to package quote: "Turn these notes into a clear detailing quote for a customer: [notes]. Include package name, what is included, what is not (paint correction depth, PPF, engine bay, odor treatment), estimated time, deposit if needed, and that the quote is valid for 14 days. Under 220 words, plain English."
  • Good / better / best: "Create three auto detailing options using these details and prices: [details]. Compare maintenance wash vs full interior vs ceramic coat (or your real tiers). Keep it easy for a customer to choose."
  • Explain correction vs wash: "Write a short, honest explanation of the difference between a wash/detail and multi-stage paint correction for a customer who asked about swirl marks: [notes]. No scare tactics, under 120 words."
  • Ceramic expectations: "Write a short paragraph for a ceramic-coating quote covering cure time, aftercare and what the warranty covers vs does not cover based on: [product notes]. Under 100 words. Do not invent warranty years."

Send finished quotes from Jobber or Housecall Pro so customers can approve and pay a deposit online, and use ChatGPT only to tighten the wording. For a fuller stack, see our AI tools for auto detailers guide.

Status and arrival texts

  • Before you arrive (mobile): "Write a short text asking the customer to leave the car unlocked or with keys in [spot], clear personal items from the cabin, and keep pets inside before our mobile detail on [day]. Under 50 words."
  • On my way: "Write a friendly text from a detailer named [name] saying they are about 20 minutes out for a [package] on a [vehicle]. Under 30 words."
  • Ready for pickup: "Write a short text saying the [vehicle] is ready for pickup after [package], where to find the keys, and the total due if unpaid. Under 40 words."
  • Weather / schedule change: "Write an apologetic text rescheduling outdoor or mobile detailing because of [rain / freezing overnight / extreme heat], with the new day as [day]."

A worked example: explaining a ceramic coating

"Explain to a customer, in under 120 words, what our ceramic coating package includes: one-step paint correction, [product] coating rated by the maker for [X] years, and a maintenance wash at 30 days. Say honestly what it does (easier washing, gloss, some chemical resistance) and what it doesn't do (stop rock chips or scratches)."

Check the product name and the durability claim against the manufacturer. Models tend to overstate coatings. Then use the same text on your booking page so every customer hears the same thing.

Turning one detail into a regular

  • Quote follow-up: "Write a brief check-in text about a detailing quote I sent [X] days ago. Friendly, no pressure, offer to answer questions about packages or timing."
  • Last follow-up: "Write a final follow-up for an unanswered ceramic or full-detail quote. Mention our open slots for [week/month] and offer to hold a day until [date]."
  • Maintenance reminder: "Write a short text to a past ceramic or premium-detail customer reminding them it has been [X] months and offering a maintenance wash by [date]. Under 50 words."
  • Add-on upsell: "Write a polite note after a full interior offering headlight restoration or odor treatment as an add-on based on: [notes]. No hard sell."

Job sheets for the bay

  • Job sheet: "Turn these notes into a simple job sheet for my detailing bay or mobile tech: [notes]. Include vehicle placeholder, package steps in order, add-ons, product notes if given, and what 'done' looks like before pickup photos."
  • Package checklist: "Rewrite this messy package list into a clean checklist: [notes]. Group exterior, interior, engine bay and ceramic steps."
  • Damage / pre-existing note: "Turn these intake notes into a short pre-existing condition note I can text the customer to confirm before we start: [notes]. Neutral tone, under 80 words."
  • For the crew: "Translate these customer prep instructions into Spanish in simple, clear language: [instructions]."

Seasonal promos

  • Season calendar: "Lay out a year of marketing for an auto detailer in [region]. For each month, list what to promote (spring pollen wash, summer ceramic, fall prep, winter salt protection, holiday gift cards) and one post idea."
  • Gift-season email: "Write a short email to past customers offering detailing gift certificates for [holiday], with a booking or purchase link placeholder and a deadline of [date]."
  • Apartment / office flyer: "Write flyer copy for mobile detailing at [apartment complex / office lot]. Headline, three packages, offer, CTA. Under 60 words."
  • Before/after captions: "Write five short Instagram captions for before-and-after detailing photos: one interior, one exterior wash, one paint correction, one ceramic, one crew tip."

Drop the copy into Canva for menus and posts, and send emails with Mailchimp.

Replying to reviews

  • Positive review: "Write a reply to this 5-star review of my auto detailing business: [review]. Thank them by first name, mention the vehicle or package if they did, two or three sentences, no emojis."
  • Negative review: "Write a calm public reply to this complaint: [review]. Stay calm, acknowledge the concern (timing, package expectations, pricing), do not argue, and invite them to message us so we can make it right. Under 80 words."
  • Review request: "Write a short text asking for a Google review after we finished their [package] today. Include a link placeholder, under 40 words."

Sending these by hand works until you get busy. After that, NiceJob or Podium automates it.

What not to hand it

  • Anything you don't tell it, it may invent. Check numbers, dates and warranty terms line by line.
  • It will repeat marketing claims about coatings and films. Stick to what the manufacturer documents.
  • It can't judge paint condition. Quote correction after you see the car.

ChatGPT's free tier runs every prompt here. If you hit the daily limits, Go ($8/mo) raises them, and Plus ($20/mo) adds the most capable models. Prices as of Oct 2026. Claude and Copilot handle these prompts too. Our comparison covers the differences.
