AI tools for gutter cleaning and gutter guard pros (2026)
Updated Oct 17, 2026 · Prices as of Oct 2026 · Some links may be affiliate links (disclosure)
Gutter cleaning is a route business with a short, intense peak. After the leaves drop, everyone wants it done before the first freeze, and the phone rings while you're two stories up. The businesses that do well quote from a satellite view in minutes, fill routes by neighborhood and sell a second visit before they leave.
This guide also covers gutter guard installs and replaces our separate gutter guards guide, since most guard installers started as cleaners. Pricing was checked in October 2026.

Quote in two minutes
- Pull up the address on satellite view and trace the gutter line, or use the square footage as a proxy.
- Check stories and roof pitch from street view. Two-story and steep roofs cost more.
- Apply your price: per linear foot, or tiers like single-story under 150 feet, two-story under 200 feet, and so on.
- Add downspout flushing, minor reattachment, or a guard quote.
- Text it with a booking link.
Put the tiers on your booking page in Jobber or Housecall Pro and many customers book without calling.
Gutter guards: sell the right one, honestly
- Fine stainless mesh: stops most debris, including small seeds, but still needs an occasional rinse.
- Reverse curve / surface tension: sheds leaves well, but can overshoot in heavy rain.
- Screens and foam inserts: cheap, short-lived, and often clog. Good for a budget tier only.
Quote guards in tiers by linear foot and note the trees around the house. Pine needles and maple seeds change the answer. ChatGPT can write a one-page comparison from your notes. Make sure it doesn't promise "no maintenance."
Fill the fall route
- August to September: text and email last year's customers with a pre-book offer. Mailchimp's free plan covers 250 contacts.
- October to December: group bookings by area. Jobber's route optimization orders the day.
- On every job: offer the spring visit at a discount before you leave, and put door hangers on the two houses on either side.
The math: if a two-person crew moves from 6 to 8 houses a day by routing tightly, at $175 a house that's $350 more a day, or about $7,000 over a 20-day peak.
Photo proof
Customers can't see the gutters from the ground. Take a before and after photo of a section and the downspout, and attach them to the invoice. It ends "did they even do it?" calls and makes the best review request.
Texts worth saving
- Quote: "Your two-story home has about 180 feet of gutter. Cleaning with downspout flush is $__. I'm in your area Tuesday and Thursday. Book here: [link]."
- Upsell: "Your gutters had a lot of maple seeds and needles. Guards would cut that way down. Want a quote? It's about $__ per foot for the mesh I'd recommend."
- Spring visit: "Thanks for having us! Want to lock in a spring cleaning at $__ (10% off)? I'll text a reminder in May."
Running costs
- Seasonal side business: Calendly free, Wave free, Smith.ai free tier, ChatGPT free. $0 a month.
- Full-time solo: Jobber Core ($29/mo annually) plus Quo Starter ($15/mo annually). About $44 a month.
- Crew with guard installs: Jobber Connect ($99/mo annually) for routing and automations, plus NiceJob ($75/mo).
The fine print
Ladder falls are the biggest risk in this trade. No software helps. Training, stabilizers and insurance do. Demand is very seasonal. Pair it with window cleaning, holiday lighting or pressure washing. Big guard brands sell with heavy advertising and financing. Compete on honest options and local reviews.

FAQ
How do gutter cleaners quote without a visit?
Most measure the roofline on a satellite view or use the home's square footage and story count, then price by linear foot or by house size tier with add-ons for downspout flushing, steep roofs and guards. A photo from the street confirms stories and access. Re-quote on site only for surprises.
Should gutter cleaners sell gutter guards?
Many do, because guards turn a $200 cleaning customer into a $1,500 to $3,000 install. Be honest that no guard is maintenance-free: fine mesh still needs occasional rinsing, and some guards struggle with pine needles or heavy rain. Customers who were promised "never clean again" leave bad reviews.
How do I build recurring gutter cleaning revenue?
Offer a twice-a-year plan (late spring and after leaf drop) at a small discount, and set it up as a recurring job in your field app so reminders and invoices go out on their own. Recurring customers fill your fall route before the rush.
