AI tools for air duct and dryer vent cleaning (2026)
Updated Oct 17, 2026 · Prices as of Oct 2026 · Some links may be affiliate links (disclosure)
Duct and dryer vent cleaning is a trust business. Customers have heard of the $49 whole-house special that ends with a $900 upsell, so they're suspicious from the first call. The companies that do well price clearly, show proof and come back every year. The tools below are about those three things.
This guide also covers dryer vent cleaning, and replaces our separate dryer vent guide. Most duct cleaners do both, and the vent job is often the better recurring service. All prices were current in October 2026.

Flat prices that hold up
Put clear prices on your booking page and stick to them:
- Air ducts: by system (one furnace or air handler), including supplies, returns and the main trunk, with an extra per vent beyond a set count. List add-ons honestly: a second system, coil cleaning, an access door.
- Dryer vents: a base price for a standard wall exit, with add-ons for roof exits, long runs, crushed or foil duct replacement, a new exterior hood and bird-guard removal.
Ask for photos when people book: the furnace and its location, a few registers, the dryer alcove and the exterior hood. Multi-story homes, stacked laundry closets and condo rules all change the job.
Know the code basics
Dryer vents are where you can point out real problems. Under the International Residential Code, a typical dryer exhaust duct is limited to 35 feet, reduced for each elbow (5 feet per 90-degree turn), unless the dryer maker allows more. Foil or plastic flex ducts hidden in walls are a common fail. Flag these with a photo and a short note. ChatGPT can help you word the note so it's helpful, not a scare tactic. Check the code your area has adopted before you cite it.
For air ducts, be honest about what cleaning does. The EPA notes that duct cleaning hasn't been shown to prevent health problems in most homes, but it's worth it after a remodel, pests or visible mold or debris. Saying that builds more trust than overselling.
Proof sells
Take before-and-after photos (or camera stills) of every job, attach them to the invoice and include one in the review request. A pile of lint from a dryer vent is the most convincing marketing photo in the trade. With the customer's permission, post it.
Build the reminder machine
- Dryer vents: an annual reminder, set at checkout.
- Air ducts: a 3 to 5 year reminder, plus a note after remodels.
- Bundle both with a small discount, and offer a yearly vent plan through Housecall Pro's service plans or Jobber's recurring jobs.
If 300 past customers get a reminder and 30% book a $129 vent cleaning, that's about $11,600 a year from one automated text and email.
Messages to copy
- Booking reply: "Thanks! Our price for one system is $__ including all supply and return vents up to __. No surprise upsells. Can you send a photo of your furnace and dryer vent outside?"
- Problem found: "Your dryer vent is foil inside the wall and crushed behind the dryer (photo attached). That restricts airflow and is a fire risk. Replacing it with rigid duct is $__. Want me to do it today?"
- Annual reminder: "It's been a year since we cleaned your dryer vent. Want to book this year's? Here's the link."
Budget
- Solo starter: Calendly free, Wave free, Smith.ai free (25 calls/mo), ChatGPT free. $0 a month.
- Full-time solo: Housecall Pro Basic ($59/mo annually) or Jobber Core ($29/mo annually), plus Quo Starter ($15/mo annually).
- Two trucks: Housecall Pro Essentials ($149/mo annually) for service plans, plus NiceJob ($75/mo).
What can go wrong
Lead-gen sites push low teaser prices. You have to explain why your price is real. Attics and roofs are dangerous. Software won't help there. Training and insurance will. AI-written content about "health benefits" can overclaim. Stick to what the EPA and manufacturers say.

FAQ
How often should dryer vents be cleaned?
Many fire-safety groups suggest at least once a year, more often for big families or long vent runs. The U.S. Fire Administration reports about 2,900 home clothes dryer fires a year, and failure to clean is the leading factor. An annual reminder set up in your field app is the simplest way to build repeat business.
How should I price duct cleaning honestly?
Price by system or by vent count, with the main trunk lines and returns included, and list add-ons clearly. The industry has a reputation problem from very low "whole house" teaser prices that turn into big upsells. Clear flat pricing and before-and-after photos are how honest companies stand out.
Do I need certification to clean air ducts?
Most states do not require a specific license, but NADCA (the National Air Duct Cleaners Association) certification and its ACR standard are widely recognized and help with trust. Some states and cities have their own rules, so check locally.
