AI tools for window tinting shops (2026)

Tint shops sell one thing over and over: a vehicle, a film line and a shade. A customer texts "how much for ceramic on a 2022 Tacoma, fronts only?" and the shop that answers first with a real number usually gets the car. Speed on that quote matters more than any AI feature.

So the software question for a tinter is narrow. Do you want a tint-specific quoting tool, or a general field-service app you bend to fit?

Tint Wiz or a general field app

Tint Wiz is $150 a month flat with unlimited users and a 30-day free trial (checked October 2026). It builds quotes from vehicle type and film line, takes bookings and handles the follow-up texts. For a shop that is mostly automotive, that is the right shape.

Jobber (Core $29/mo billed annually ($49 month to month); Connect $99/mo annually; Grow $149/mo annually) and Housecall Pro (Basic $59/mo billed annually ($79 monthly); Essentials $149/mo annually for 5 users; MAX $299/mo annually) cost less at the bottom tier but make you build the vehicle-and-film matrix yourself as line items. They pull ahead once you do flat glass: residential privacy film, storefronts, office decorative film. That work involves site measures, travel and multi-day installs, which is what those apps were built for.

Our take: automotive-heavy shops should trial Tint Wiz first. Mixed shops doing a lot of architectural work will be happier in Jobber.

Questions you answer 30 times a week

Most tint shop texts are the same handful of questions. Write the answers once, keep them as saved replies, and paste. ChatGPT is good at turning your rough notes into short, clear versions.

  • "What's the difference between your films?" Give it your actual lines (dyed, carbon, ceramic, whatever you carry) and the price for a sedan in each. Ask for three sentences per film, no hype.
  • "How dark can I go?" Write this one yourself from your state's rules. Don't let an AI guess a VLT number. A wrong answer here can get your customer a ticket and you a bad review.
  • "When can I roll the windows down?" Use the cure time your film maker gives. Most shops say a few days, longer in cold weather.
  • "Do you remove old tint?" Say yes or no and what it costs. Old purple film with a dried adhesive takes real time, so price it as a separate line.

One shop, one month of math

Say you do 70 cars a month and your average ticket is $350 (use your own numbers). That's $24,500. Tint Wiz at $150 is 0.6% of that. If faster quoting wins you two extra cars a month, it has paid for itself several times. The software is cheap relative to the revenue. What costs you is a slow reply on Saturday morning when people shop around.

Flat glass is a different shape. One residential job might be 300 square feet across 14 windows and take a day. There you want measure photos, a clear written scope and a deposit before you order film.

Where it falls short

No software knows your local tint law, and none of them will stop you from installing an illegal shade. Film warranties come from the manufacturer, so check their registration process before you promise anything. And photo quotes for flat glass are a starting point only. Measure on site before ordering a roll.

FAQ

Is Tint Wiz worth it over Jobber for a tint shop?

If most of your work is automotive and you sell by vehicle and film line, yes. Tint Wiz is built around that quote and costs $150 a month flat with unlimited users. If you also do a lot of residential or commercial flat glass with site visits, a general field app like Jobber or Housecall Pro handles the travel side better.

Can ChatGPT tell customers the legal tint limit in my state?

Don't rely on it. VLT limits differ by state, by window and sometimes by vehicle type, and the rules change. Write your own answer from your state statute or DMV page, then let ChatGPT tidy the wording.

What should a tint quote include?

Vehicle or glass list, film line and shade for each window, removal of old film if needed, warranty terms from the film maker, cure time and aftercare. For flat glass add square footage and any glass-type warnings.
